I want to start a blog but I don’t know what to write. I want to start a blog but I am afraid no one will read it. I want to start a blog but I don’t have a niche. I want to start a blog but I am afraid it will seem stupid. I have a blog but I am feeling a little insecure.
These are just a few of the doubts I have heard from potential bloggers and current bloggers lately. Fear.
I was and am sometimes one of those people, I think we all experience this kind of fear at some point. Eventually, you just take the plunge and hope that things work out well. Bravery is what it takes to make the leap from potential blogger to blogger.
Just be brave.
Bravery is one thing but the doubts are still going to be in your mind no matter how long you have been blogging. I have my own doubts sometimes too. Are people going to care about this? Should I just stay with one theme? Do I sound stupid?
Random questions that pop up that nobody is going to be able to answer for you or for me. That is the beauty of blogging really. It’s all subjective, a canvas of creativity, an outlet for your mind, desires, and passions.
I am all about positive vibes here people. So I wanted to share with you some reasons why I think your blogging idea does matter. I hope that if you are at the beginning of the journey this will motivate you to take the plunge and if you are having doubts about your current blog I hope this keeps you on the path of positivity and confidence.
1. Someone will want to read it…
Trust me when I say that no matter what your blog idea is, there will be someone out there who will want to read it. I mean the internet is a bloody big place. There are blogs about everything from food to toenails to hummingbirds.
Whatever your idea is I can guarantee that someone out there will be interested in it. Write what you love, own your idea and share it with the world. Someone out there will read your blog and chances are someone out there will love it.
Your idea matters because someone out there wants to hear about it!
2. You have the opportunity to inspire…
Nothing inspires me more than people being themselves. It makes me feel like I can be brave too!
Blogs inspire me to travel, to push my comfort zone, to change my perspectives, to try new recipes, to get healthy, to be confident. To everything.
There is a lot of inspiration out there available from people just like me and you. So why not be an inspiration to someone else? It feels pretty good!
3. You can help others…
During some of the darkest times in my life, I found a lot of comfort from reading blogs. Legit!
Giving advice, and sharing your personal stories, all have the power to help people through their hard times. Not to mention on a more basic level you can help people do things that they are nervous about. Like crafts, recipes, home decor ventures, buying a home.
Whatever it is you are thinking about blogging about it has the potential to help others in ways that you may never know.
4. It will bring you happiness…
Blogging makes me happy. Writing, editing, getting creative. Opening a blank page and then turning it into a little something magical. I love it!
Then the comments start rolling in, which brings me, even more, joy!
If you like writing and you like your blog idea then this is a hobby that will bring you so much happiness.
How’s that for reason? Your blog idea matters because it WILL make you happy.
5. Gain more confidence in yourself…
When you go out on a limb, take a risk and broadcast your passions to the world, that takes confidence. Taking that risk will help you gain even more confidence in your abilities. Before you know it you will start trying all kinds of different blogging styles and ideas.
Taking one risk will lead to much more. In blogging and in life.
6. Your passion is more powerful than you know…
Whatever it is you are thinking about blogging or have been blogging it’s the passion behind it that is truly powerful.
Look at how the musical world has been forever changed by YouTubers pursuing their passions for music. Look at all of those mom blogs helping fellow mothers through difficulties, sharing tips, advice. Look at those makeup tutorials that have sparked this generation’s love for makeup and hair.
Whatever it is that your passion is its power can spread like wildfire. You may not think it about yourself or your blog idea but everyone has a passion worth sharing and a story to tell.
7. You will gain support…
My original blog idea was to write about positivity. My blog is basically centered around that idea but my main reason for wanting so badly to write about it was to gain support from a larger network of people.
Not everyone likes to sit down and talk about these things every day, so I write about them.
Maybe you really like crafts, decorating, makeup, fashion, model airplanes, but you feel lonely when you talk to your friends about it. They don’t share your passion.
Blogging can help you gain that support for your passion by talking with others who have similar interests. Again no matter what your idea may be you will find that support out there.
8. It’s an amazing creative outlet…
If you’re thinking of blogging chances are you are a creative person whether you know it or not. Blogging is an awesome way to get those creative juices flowing, both visually through images and also mentally by releasing your thoughts through words.
Whatever your blog idea, creativity is sure to follow so why not embrace it?
9. This is your chance to try something new…
If you have been thinking that your idea is not a good one then perhaps you need a change in perspective. Maybe you can start by looking at blogging as a chance to try something new.
Isn’t the point of life to experience as many different things as possible? Take this as your chance to try something new, maybe you will like it.
10. Memories forever…
I know a lot of bloggers who like to blog about nothing, in particular, other than their thoughts of the day or feelings on happenings in their personal life.
These blogs are awesome, and I love them.
Why do people do this?
To hold onto memories. My travel posts are my way of doing this. Blogging is an awesome way to have something more than pictures to remember my adventures.
It is also a great way to share memories with friends and family in the years to come. Like an online journal of sorts.
So if you have been feeling a bit insecure about this whole blogging gig I hope these reasons have been enough inspiration or motivation to get your butt in blogging gear.
Ultimately you just have to be brave and get out there, try something different and give it your best shot.
