Fall is the season of harvest. It is known to be a time of change and endings, a time of ultimate growth. A time to reap what is sowed. The list goes on.
All over the world cultures have rituals surrounding this magnetic time of year. Endings and beginnings have often been celebrated.
In my own personal life fall always seems to be the time for new beginnings and a great deal of growth and realizations.
Sometimes with these realizations, there has been a lot of conflict and difficulties. In change, there is often heaviness on the soul. Have you been experiencing some fall time harvests and changes in your own life?
This season is the perfect time to show yourself that little bit of extra love. Self-love is important every day but with the beginning of the new season upon us, there is really no better time to start showing yourself some love than right now!
Like the falling leaves, it is time to shed the old and embrace the new, hibernate into yourself and strengthen your relationship with yourself today and every day!
Adopt a Daily Affirmation
So it’s a brand new season. Maybe even a brand new you. Before you start on the road to strengthening your self-love, you should begin with a solid foundation. Start your day with some loving affirmations.
For the entire season try to commit yourself to a morning affirmation as soon as you open your eyes. Open your eyes, take a deep breath and say your affirmation. Repeat as much throughout the day as you can.
If you have not used affirmations before you may think this process is a little weird but it can really transform your life. Seriously… Some of the most successful people in the world use them, and they have been known to really work! Haven’t you heard of the law of attraction people?

Take yourself on a Fall Date
What’s stopping you from enjoying a beautiful fall day by yourself?
Take a stroll in the park, carve a pumpkin, or jump in a pile of leaves. Laugh with yourself and learn how to date yourself. This may seem like a strange concept but trust me when I share this. Dating yourself is a powerful tool on the path to self-love.
A few years ago I read a blog post that changed my life at the time (I can’t remember the name of the blog). The post was on the concept of self-love. I was recently out of a long-term relationship, feeling pretty lonely and finding it difficult to emerge from my self-imposed prison of a bedroom. It was Septemeber, funny enough.
As I read more on the subject of self-love the blogger shared a story on how the greatest tool she used in learning to truly love herself was to date herself. As I read more about the concept of dating myself I began to feel a warmth wash over me, a fuzzy feeling. I felt uplifted. I didn’t need someone to make me happy, to frolic with to laugh with. Sure I could want someone to do those things with, but I didn’t need someone. I could date myself. It felt empowering.
Humour me here people, try not to feel silly about this.
Try to commit yourself to one fall date with yourself this season. See how you like it and observe how it makes you feel. I bet you will feel like a million bucks! Who knows you might date yourself all the time and not even know it.

Try Something New
Why not try something new? I can’t think of a better way to show yourself love than by teaching yourself a new skill or finally doing that thing you always wanted to try but have always put off. Now is as good a time as any!
I have been wanting to try yoga for a long time but always came up with an excuse as to why I shouldn’t or couldn’t do it. This September at the meditation temple where I practice, a 5-week beginners yoga class became available. I took this as a sign and finally decided to put myself first, try something new and I signed up.
I feel great and I’m proud of myself for doing something by myself for myself. It really does wonders for the spirit. I urge you to do the same. Try that thing you always wanted to try! A cooking class, yoga, join the gym, an art class, a cooking class, you name it!
Say goodbye to the old and embrace this new season with a new beginning in the relationship you have with yourself.
