Happy Spring everyone!
As you may know by now, writing about self-love is something I feel rather passionate about and I am happy to share more ideas with you all.
Spring is the season of rebirth and new beginnings. There is truly no better time than spring to start fresh. How’s that for motivation? The snow is melting, flowers blooming, somewhere out there baby animals of all matter of cuteness are being born. It’s freaking magical.

Begin a new fitness routine
Let’s be honest, the winter months can be a little hard on the old beach bod. Or is it just me? Either way being cramped up inside for months watching Netflix smothered in blankets can make you a bit stiff and not as fit as you may like.
So I invite you to take on a new routine, it doesn’t need to be anything crazy. You can start small with going for a walk once or twice a week or stretching a few times a day. If you are looking for something a little more challenging may I suggest 30 Days of Yoga with Adriene. I have been doing these videos lately and I love them! They are not too long and it has really helped me to dust off the cobwebs, get motivated and get moving.
If you have been keeping up with regular fitness then now is a great time to try something different, or to push yourself further.
Learn something new
This is as good a time as any to try that new thing you might have been putting off. Perhaps there is an online course you have been interested in doing, or a class being offered in your town.
Learning something new could even take the form of reading a new book or checking out a documentary. I have been loving the food documentaries on Netflix. I highly recommend checking out Minimalism and Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Enriching our minds is a beautiful act of self love.
Begin a new practice
Begin a new meditation practice, a gratitude practice, or journaling. Working out your thoughts and taking care of your soul is an important self-love practice. I use The Five Minute Journal: A Happier You in 5 Minutes a Day for my gratitude practice, but any notebook will do, just write out three things you are grateful for every day. It’s that simple, and honestly, you will notice a difference in your attitude and daily outlook after a few weeks, it’s pretty awesome.
Also, you could try 30 days free of the app headspace, which is the best meditation app I have used. I simply love it!
Really think about something new to add to your life a new skill or hobby and go for it! Enjoy the long-term benefits of taking care of your soul.
Try a new look
Looks are not everything but a fresh you sure can do wonders for your self-esteem. So why not change up your style a little?
Head to the salon and get a trim or change your look entirely. You could dust off the spring/summer wardrobe. Get your nails done, a new tattoo, or simply buy a new jacket, you decide. Have fun!
Get your home Spring ready
I don’t know about you but I always seem to feel better when my home environment is clean and open. Too much clutter kind of stresses me out.
Spring is the perfect time to do a major overhaul of your home. Pick a weekend and get rid of those things that you don’t use. Donate to goodwill, give things away to friends or family. It is majorly wasteful to surround yourself with things that don’t add to your life. Besides, you may know someone who would gain genuine joy from adopting your old goodies. After you have cleaned up your home sweet home, add something new and fresh to your environment. A new plant or fresh flowers, new framed photos, rearrange the furniture, change your bed sheets to some lighter spring sheets, or even add a fresh floral scented candle.
Shake off the darkness of winter by brightening and lightening your home. Filling your environment with love can have a direct impact on your inner self.
Make a to-do list or goals
I recently bought agenda running from April 2017 – April 2018. Having an agenda is a great way to keep track of your physical fitness goals, mental practices and to make sure you are being as productive as possible.
Setting small goals for the future and planning out some things for the months to follow is an awesome way to stay motivated and to get shit done.
I often have ideas and plans in my mind but when I fail to write them down they kind of drift away and I end up looking back with regret for the things I didn’t get to do. I am super excited to get my planner up and running so I can stay on top of my goals. My inner nerd is feeling the love.
Self-love is about creating a full happy and healthy life, on the inside and out. It’s about discovering new things and doing the things you love to do. It’s about surrounding yourself with the people you love and creating an environment that helps you flourish.
No matter the season, day, month or year. Trying out fresh new ways to nurture your mind, body, and soul is important.
